Art by KD - Murals

Murals may cover an entire room or part of a wall or ceiling. The illusion they create blends with your perception as you pass through the space. They often incorporate trompe l'oeil or decorative painting work. Trompe l'oeil, "trick of the eye" in French, refers to extremely realistic illusions, such as fake windows or doorways.

Mediterranean Vista

The mural in this living and dining room creates a wonderful mood for wine tasting and evening entertaining. It opens up the room and works with the scale of the furnishings. Framed artwork was lost on the wall. (16' x 9')

Cassmoni Vineyards

A dining room is transformed into a terrace overlooking a vineyard in Napa or Tuscany. (12' x 9 1/2')

Water Temple

The "Water Temple" mural creates a tremendously expansive feeling in a small space. The distant stone archway on the left conceals a medicine cabinet built into the wall. Remaining walls and ceiling are painted in a stone faux finish that matches the marble tile. The Home page photo shows a detail. (6' x 10' x 8')

Celestial Ceiling

At night the lamp adds a sunset glow.

The low ceiling in this bedroom expands upward with the sky on it while the pinks, purples, and greens in the clouds subtly continue colors used throughout the room. (13' x 10')
