Here is a selection of commissioned and original paintings. Though the subject matter varies, the technique remains the same: many thin layers of paint for maximum luminosity and depth.

Commissions:

"Pink Hibiscus", ©Kathryn DeBra, acrylic on canvas, 4' x 2'.

Created to coordinate with hibiscus print fabrics in a bedroom, the clients love Hawaii and hibiscus flowers. My own love of the flower comes through in an homage to Georgia O'Keefe.

This portrait was commissioned as a special Christmas gift for the client's grandparents.

No matter how unusual a request may seem, Art by KD can bring your idea to life. This client requested: "...a plaintype graybodied alien on a cross...with love and tenderness in his eyes. I want to look into the depths of his pupils and see both humanity and alien pain."

Original Paintings:

Underwater Series: I love the feeling of being underwater, watching light pass through the water, seeing bubbles, splashes and the morphed colors of things seen above the water's surface from below. Water makes beautiful shapes.
